     Peter H. Ball was born on 20 February 1845 at NJ.1 He was the son of Luther Ball and Julia A. Hubert.1 Peter H. Ball married Amanda McNeer on 5 March 1864.1 Peter H. Ball married Caroline B. Lawrence in April 1873.1 Peter H. Ball died on 28 December 1927 at age 82.1
     From an 1881 invalid pension application: State of New Jersey, County of Morris, on this 27th day of December A.D. 1881....Peter H. Ball aged about 38 years, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Peter H. Ball who was enrolled o n the 23rd day of February 1864, in company A of the Fifth regiment of NJ Infantry Volunteers commanded by Capt. David H. Ayres and was honorably discharged after his return home to NJ the 8th day of July 1864; That his personal description is as follows: Age then 19 years; height five feet 7 3/4 inches; complexion dark; hair dark; eyes blue. That while a member of the organization aforesaid, in the service and in the line of his duty at Wilderness in the State of Virginia on or about the 5th day of May 1864 he received a gunshot wound in the back part of the left hip, which he received from the enemy while preparing to put a cap on his gun as he had just risen and was standing on his knees with his shoulder to the ground and he received the wound as above stated. That he was treated in hospitals as follows: Finley Hospital, Ward J, Washington, DC, from 24th of May 1864 until June 8th, 1864, when he received a furlough and came home.2

     George Lawrence Ball was born on 14 January 1876 at NJ; Note that 1900 census shows May 1876 and his father's Civil War disability pension application shows 14 Jan 1875.1,2,3 He was the son of Peter H. Ball and Caroline B. Lawrence.1 George Lawrence Ball married Viola May Newman, daughter of William S. Newman and Alice Timble, on 24 March 1897.1 George Lawrence Ball died on 12 December 1956 at age 80.1
