     He 1962, November 30th - Uri Lee Baird was honored for 30 years of service with the Imperial Irrigation District. He became a District employee November 1, 1922, as water clerk. Service record included: water clerk and field assistant; Water Superintendent, Chief Clerk, and Water Clerk of Calipatria Division; zanjero, and hydrographer.
Note: Above Census shows him working in 1920 for the water district. Mystery as to the two-year disparity in the dates.

1962, November 30th - U. Lee Baird retired from the Imperial Irrigation District and moved shortly thereafter to Santee, California with his wife, Alene Baird, and son, Robert Baird. Robert was still in High School at the time.

1962-1963, the Baird's daughters, Shirley Carl and Greta Jones, and their spouses, Paul Carl and Dale Jones, purchased a home for the Bairds located at 9226 Bird Ave., Santee, CA. Dale Jones drove a U-haul truck from Calipatria to Santee for the Bairds, which broke down during the move.

'Services Held Tues., Sept. 10 For U. Lee Baird
Services for Uri Lee Baird were held at 10:00 A.M. September 10 at Clairmont Mortuary, San Diego, California, with burial at El Camino Memorial Park.
Mr. Baird, who was 72, died in Mercy Hospital, September 5. He was born in Kansas and lived in California for 60 years. The family lived in the Calipatria area for many years before moving to Santee, Calif. While in the Valley Baird had been a Zanjero for the Imperial Irrigation District, serving for 45 years before his retirement.
He was a member of the Calipatria Community Church and was a member of the International Order of Forresters.
He is survived by his widow, Alene Baird of Santee; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Carl, San Diego; Mrs. Greta Jones, Santee; and Mrs. Robert Burkholder of Costa Mesa; two sons, Charles of North Highlands; and Robert, who is in the service and stationed at Ft. Sill, Okla; and 10 grandchildren.¹'

     Susan Almanza Howland was born on 7 November 1910 at Warner, Muskogee Co., OK.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Cobb Howland and Jessie Swarts.¹ Susan Almanza Howland married Uri Lee Baird, son of Frank Parvan Miller Baird and Ellen Elizabeth Lee, on 15 June 1927 at Yuma, Yuma Co., AZ.¹ Susan Almanza Howland married Bert Budal, son of Olm Budal and Inaborg Fonnes, on 18 November 1970 at Winterhaven, Imperial Co., CA.¹ Susan Almanza Howland died on 16 May 1986 at Sharp Hospital, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA, at age 75; "Alene Budal" SSDI lists last residence as San Diego, San Diego Co., CA.^1,2 She was buried on 21 May 1986 at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego Co., CA.¹
     As of 15 June 1927,her married name was Baird. As of 18 November 1970,her married name was Budal.

     Frank Parvan Miller Baird was born on 24 February 1849 at Montgomery, OH.¹ He was the son of Enoch Baird and Sophronia Burgan.¹ Frank Parvan Miller Baird married Ellen Elizabeth Lee, daughter of Uriah M. Lee and Eliza Ann Ball, on 17 December 1877 at Guthrie Co., IA.¹ Frank Parvan Miller Baird died on 10 February 1924 at San Diego, San Diego Co., CA, at age 74.¹ He was buried on 14 February 1924 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA.¹

     Ellen Elizabeth Lee was born on 1 October 1854 at Pickrelltown, Logan Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Uriah M. Lee and Eliza Ann Ball.¹ Ellen Elizabeth Lee married Frank Parvan Miller Baird, son of Enoch Baird and Sophronia Burgan, on 17 December 1877 at Guthrie Co., IA.¹ Ellen Elizabeth Lee died on 11 July 1918 at San Diego, San Diego Co., CA, at age 63.¹ She was buried on 16 July 1918 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA.¹
     As of 17 December 1877,her married name was Baird. From an obituary in the "San Diego Union" newspaper: In this city, July 11, 1918, Ellen E. Baird, wife of F. P Baird, mother of Lee Baird of San Diego and Mrs. Minnie Broughton of Hutchinson, Kan; a native of Iowa. Remains are in care of Hambley & Smith, 1170 Fourth street, corner of Cedar.      Minnie Belle Baird was born on 22 August 1885 at Kingman, Kingman Co., KS.¹ She was the daughter of Frank Parvan Miller Baird and Ellen Elizabeth Lee.¹ Minnie Belle Baird married Charles V. Broughton, son of Edwin M. Broughton and Lovina Adelia Jones, on 6 November 1906 at Kingman, Kingman Co., KS.¹ Minnie Belle Baird died on 3 February 1941 at Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, at age 55.¹ She was buried at Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS.¹
     As of 6 November 1906,her married name was Broughton. From an obituary in the "Hutchinson News": Mrs. Minnie Belle Broughton, 55, wife of Charles V. Broughton, 804 East B, died at a local hospital this morning following an illness of several months. She was born in Kingman on Aug.22, 1885 and was married to Mr. Broughton on Nov. 6, 1906. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Helen, of the home and a son, Clarence Broughton of Needles, Calif. and a brother, Lee Baird of Calipatria, Calif.¹

Lee married Fanny Thompson on 15 January 1893 at Kingman, Kingman Co., KS.² Uriah M. Lee died on 16 August 1902 at Kingman, Kingman Co., KS, at age 84.² He was buried at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman, Kingman Co., KS.²
     From an obituary: Uriah Lee, of Ninnescah township, died Saturday. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Taylor. The deceased was the father of Mrs. F. M. Baird of this city.²
