George Monk1

M, #17987, b. 15 January 1764, d. 27 September 1834
George Monk was born on 15 January 1764 at Stoughton, Norfolk Co., MA.2 He was the son of George Monk and Sarah Hixson.2 George Monk married Lydia Packard on 20 August 1789 at Stoughton, Norfolk Co., MA.2 George Monk married Jerusha (????) circa 1810.2 George Monk married Amy Ball, daughter of Moses Ball and Phillis Rising, on 1 February 1823 at Windsor, Berkshire Co., MA.3 George Monk died on 27 September 1834 at Windsor, Berkshire Co., MA, at age 70.2
Comment by DGB: Despite the reasoning in the TAG journal article about the wives of George Monk, I am suspicious about the conclusions putting Amy Ball as the wife of a man born in 1764. There was a George R. Monk living in Stoughton MA for the 1830 census that had a son under 5 (George 3), son 5 to 9 (William 8), but that George Monk was age 30 to 39, not 66. The women in that household included 3 age 20-29 (perhaps including wife Amy 32), one 15-19 (Jerusha 17), and one age 5-9. Not a perfect fit, but there were no other Monk families that had a better fit in the area. There were no Monk families in the Berkshire Co. MA area in 1830. End of comment.
