     Samuel Riley Ball was born on 14 August 1858 at IN. He was the son of Herman Beach Ball and Hannah Nelson. Samuel Riley Ball married Lily June Merritt, daughter of George H. Merritt and Rachel R. Hoops, on 21 September 1880 at Clinton Co., IN.¹ Samuel Riley Ball died circa 1925.
     Samuel Riley Ball appeared on the census of 15 June 1860 at Shelby, Tippecanoe Co., IN; "Samuel R." age 1, b. IN, with parents, etc.² He appeared on the census of 25 April 1910 at Oil City, Venango Co., PA; "S. R." age 50, b. IN, stenographer, with wife Lily and son Albert.³ He appeared on the census of 19 January 1920 at Oil City, Venango Co., PA; "Samuel R." age 61, b. IN, secretary for oil company, with wife Lily.⁴

     Samuel Riley Ball was born circa May 1850 at IN.¹ He was the son of Samuel R. Ball and Susan Washburn Waldron. Samuel Riley Ball married Flora E. Vintage circa 1875. Samuel Riley Ball died on 24 November 1917.

     Samuel S. Ball was born circa 1807.¹ He was the son of Samuel Shortridge Ball and Mary Muchmore.¹ Samuel S. Ball married Eunice Harriet Brigham, daughter of Levi Brigham and Eunice (????), circa 1836.¹ Samuel S. Ball died on 1 November 1838 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.¹

     Samuel S. Ball was born in December 1889 at NY.¹ He was the son of Henry Kneeland Ball and Nelta Crissy.¹
     Samuel S. Ball appeared on the census of 13 June 1900 at Elmira, Chemung Co., NY; "Samuel S." age 10, b. NY, with parents, etc.¹

     Samuel Salbert Offutt Ball was born circa 1847 at IN.² He was the son of Henry Ball and Harriet Smith.¹ Samuel Salbert Offutt Ball married Cassandra Addison on 29 July 1873 at Rush Co., IN.¹
     Samuel Salbert Offutt Ball appeared on the census of June 1860 at Posey, Rush Co., IN; "Sabert" age 13, b. IN, with parents, etc.² He appeared on the census of 13 August 1870 at Posey, Rush Co., IN; "S. O." age 24, b. IN, farm laborer, with parents, etc.³ He appeared on the census of 19 June 1880 at Posey, Rush Co., IN; "Samuel" age 34, b. IN, farmer, with wife Cassandra and children Davilla, Byron, Cleora, and Ethel; living next to parents.⁴

     Samuel Shortridge Ball was baptized on 22 October 1781 at South Church, Portsmouth, Rockingham Co., NH.¹ He was the son of Samuel Ball and Mary Shortridge.¹ Samuel Shortridge Ball married Mary Muchmore on 22 September 1805.² Samuel Shortridge Ball married Mary Moody.² Samuel Shortridge Ball died on 14 September 1857 at Greenland, Rockingham Co., NH, at age 75.²
     Comment by DGB: It is not clear from Dr. Druse's notes as to which children were born to which wife. The current guess is that those born 1815 and earlier were from Samuel's first wife. End of comment. He lived on 5 August 1850 at Greenland, Rockingham Co., NH.³

     Samuel Thompson Ball was born on 10 January 1787.¹ He was the son of James Ball and Mary Thompson.¹ Samuel Thompson Ball married Mary White, daughter of Benjamin White and Amah Ball.²

     Samuel W. Ball was born on 14 February 1863 at WI.¹ He was the son of Hervey Ball and Sally Ann Tucker.¹

     Samuel Walter Ball was born on 4 August 1867 at Galesburg, Knox Co., IL.¹ He was the son of James M. Ball and Julia Etta Noe.¹ Samuel Walter Ball married Ellen Urwin on 24 June 1890 at Plattsmouth, Cass Co., NE.² Samuel Walter Ball died on 30 January 1929 at M. E. Hospital, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE, at age 61.¹ He was buried on 3 February 1929 at Riverview Cemetery, Louisville, Cass Co., NE.¹
     From an obituary in the Louisville, Nebraska paper: “Well loved pioneer answers last summons; S. W.Ball passes away at the M. E. Hospital in Omaha -- had resided here 40 years. The death of S. W. Ball a well loved and highly esteemed resident of Louisville for almost forty years, occurred at the M.E. Hospital in Omaha on Wednesday of last week 30 Jan 1929 after an illness covering a period of several years although he had been in the hospital a very short time. His death was caused from heart trouble, a post mortem exam indicating that the lower part of his heart was paralyzed and that death might have taken him suddenly at any moment. Samuel Walter Ball was born 4 August 1867, at Galesburg, Illinois. And at the time of his passing he was 61 years 5 months and 26 days old. At the age of four he accompanied his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. James M. Ball, to Omaha in the year of 1871. They located on a farm in Sarpy County near Springfield in the year 1874. Mr. Ball came to Louisville July 8, 1889 and had lived here continually ever since. He was married to Ellen Urwin on 24 June 1891, this being an unusually happy union, each being devoted to the other. Mr. Ball was converted to the Free Methodist faith in the year 1904 and united with the church at Louisville in July 1905. He was a devoted member of his faith, was interested in home and especially in foreign missions and gave largely of his earnings to all worthy causes. He lived a Christian life and was greatly respected and loved by the whole community. The funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon from the M. E. Church, the services being in charge of the Rev. V. A. Bagley pastor of the Free Methodist church at Fremont, assisted by Rev. C. F. Chitty, of Omaha, Rev. R. E. Compton of weeping water and Rev. E. P. Booher, pastor of the M. E. Church at Louisville. These reverend gentlemen were old time friends of the deceased and had been closely associated with him in church work and the family appreciated the fine tributes paid to Mr. Ball in their remarks. The pall bearers were E. Sundstrom, A. Liden, Thomas Simonton, E. N. Ahl, C. J. Pankonin and Leonard Recard. Many beautiful floral offerings testified to the respect of the friends, one especially being from the business men and friends of Louisville. Mr. Ball was one of twelve children, only six brothers of the 12 surviving. They are James, of North Platte; Elmer and Asa of Los Angeles; Ben formerly of Omaha, and John, also of Omaha, and Lester of Springfield. He leaves his widow, one son Harvey of Louisville and two daughters. They are Mrs. Sam Leard of Liewellyn and Mrs. Clara Clifford of Omaha. Two grandchildren also survive. They are Gladys and Jack Clifford, of Omaha, who made their home with their grandparents and attended school here. Mr. Ball conducted a barber shop in Louisville and he was attentive to his business duties, was honest and upright in all his dealings and he will be sadly missed by his family and host of friends. Interment was in the Ball Cemetery in Sarpy county, where many of his relatives are laid to rest. The Courier joins with the community in extending deepest sympathy to the family in their great sorrow and loss.”.¹

     Samuel Ward Ball was born on 24 November 1821 at Deerfield, Franklin Co., MA.² He was the son of Frederick Augustus Ball and Mary L. Corthell.¹ Samuel Ward Ball married Mary E. Smith, daughter of Nathan Smith and Berce Cobb, on 5 January 1853 at Deerfield, Franklin Co., MA.³ Samuel Ward Ball died on 18 June 1897 at Deerfield, Franklin Co., MA, at age 75.⁴
     Samuel Ward Ball appeared on the census of 20 August 1850 at New London, New London Co., CT; "Saml." age 28, b. MA, mariner living with Loring and Mary Corthell (perhaps uncle and aunt).⁵ He was a sailor in 1853.³

     Samuel Wiley Ball was born on 10 February 1876 at Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Gilbert Ball and Mary Cornelia Wiley.¹ Samuel Wiley Ball married Mary W. Blair in 1901 at Belmont, Middlesex Co., MA.^1,3 Samuel Wiley Ball died on 23 September 1908 at Belmont, Middlesex Co., MA, at age 32.² He was buried on 26 September 1908 at Cambridge Cemetery, Middlesex Co., MA.²

     Sandra K. Ball is the daughter of Arthur L. Ball and Lucille Collison.²

     Sanford Ball was born on 18 March 1827 at Shefford Co., QC, Canada.² He was the son of Alanson Ball and Seraph Wright.¹ Sanford Ball was baptized on 21 August 1843 at Shefford, Shefford Co., QC, Canada.² He married Sarah Albina Calhoun.¹ Sanford Ball died on 24 April 1915 at Shefford, Shefford Co., QC, Canada, at age 88.^3,4
     Sanford Ball appeared on the census of January 1861 at Roxton, Shefford Co., QC, Canada; "S." age 34, b. QC, farmer, with wife Sarah and daughters Jessie and Cordelia.⁵ He appeared on the census of April 1871 at Abbotsford, Rouville Co., QC, Canada; "Salford" age 44, b. USA, farmer, with wife Sarah, daughters Jessie, Cordelia and Charlotte, and Asie and Sarah Ball (ages 73 and 65, b. USA; relationship unknown).⁶

     Sanford Ball was born on 18 September 1807 at Freedom, Cattaraugus Co., NY.¹ He was the son of Edward Ball and Lydia Ann Foote.¹ Sanford Ball married Lavina Lock on 10 April 1836 at Huron Co., OH.² Sanford Ball died on 21 April 1859 at Clyde, Sandusky Co., OH, at age 51.²

     Sanford Salisbury Ball was born on 27 December 1889.¹ He was the son of John Stanford Ball and Amanda Salisbury.¹

     Santa Ray Ball was born on 25 December 1898 at Springfield, Sarpy Co., NE.^1,2,3 He was the son of James R Ball and Charlotte Lottie Anderson.¹ Santa Ray Ball died on 25 May 1986 at Vale, Malheur Co., OR, at age 87.^1,2,3
