     James Pembroke Ball was born on 2 August 1836 at Huntsville, Crawford Co., IL.¹ He was the son of Aaron Lindsley Ball and Susan Ann Bennett.¹ James Pembroke Ball married Rhoda Ann Roper, daughter of Samuel Henry Roper and Caroline Cabinet Miles, on 30 October 1863 at Fulton Co., KY.¹ James Pembroke Ball died on 24 May 1915 at Redmond, Deschutes Co, OR, at age 78.¹ He was buried at Richmond Cemetery, Deschutes Co., OR.¹

IL, with parents, etc.³ From an obituary in the "North Platte Daily Bulletin": “Funeral services for James R. Ball 79 year old farmer who died Tuesday in his home 15 miles south-west of here will be held at l:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hutchins & Adams funeral home. The Rev. A. D. Tabor of the Four-Square Gospel church will officiate. Burial will be in North Platte cemetery. The body will lie in state in the funeral home until the time of the funeral. Mr. Ball is survived by four sons, Oliver E., North Platte, Ray S., Somerset route, Hardy R. and Lloyd D., Melba, Idaho: Two daughters Mrs. Violet I. Thompson from Vale, Oregon and Mrs. Mabel Blakeman of North Platte, and 16 grandchildren.”.²
