     Alexander Ball was born circa 1857 at QC, Canada.² He was the son of Charles Ball and Ann Murphy.¹
     Alexander Ball appeared on the census of 14 January 1861 at Cap Sante, Portneuf Co., QC, Canada; "Alexander" age 3, b. Canada, with parents, etc.³ He appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at Toronto, York Region, ON, Canada; "Alexander" age 14, b. PQ, with parents, etc.² Alexander Ball first shows up in the Toronto city directories in 1888 residing with his father at 336 Sumach Street and listed as a moulder for J. R. Armstrong & Company. He was still at that residence in 1890, but then a moulder for E&C Gurney Company. In 1891 Alexander is back with J.R. Armstrong & Company, but residing at 414 Sumach Street with his mother. In 1892 Alexander shows up for the last time in the city directories as living at 98 Edwin Street owned by his brother William.

NJ, carpenter apprentice, with parents, etc.² He appeared on the census of 1 June 1880 at North West Fork, Sussex Co., DE; "Alex" age 34, b. NJ, lumber merchant, with wife Laura and children Kate and Charles.⁴

     Alexander Ball was born circa 1803.¹ He was the son of James Ball and Elizabeth Moores.¹ Alexander Ball married Charlotte Osborne, daughter of Jacob Osborne and Patience (????).¹ Alexander Ball died on 19 April 1841.¹

MO, with parents, etc.³ He appeared on the census of 23 June 1900 at The Confederate Home of Missouri, Dover, Layfayette Co., MO; "Elaxander G." age 66, b. MO (listed as single).⁴ Comment by DGB: He may be the Alexander Green Ball that died 1905 and was buried in the Confederate Soldier cemetery in Lafayette Co. MO. End of comment.

     Alexander McWhorter Ball was born on 8 April 1817 at NJ.¹ He was the son of David Ball and Abigail Foster.¹ Alexander McWhorter Ball married Harriet Townley circa 1842.¹

VT, farmer, living with Lucius and Harriet Ball, but listed after all of the other children, which may imply he was a nephew, as opposed to a son that was a bit of an afterthought when informing the census enumerator.³ He appeared on the census of 24 July 1860 at Newark, Caledonia Co., VT; "Alfred" age 32, b. VT, farm laborer, with parents, etc.⁴ He appeared on the census of 18 April 1910 at Newark, Caledonia Co., VT; "Elfred" age 83, b. VT, widower, living with nephew Corydon Ball.⁵
