     Ward Hughes Powell was born on 12 October 1882 at Shelby, Polk Co., NE.^1,2 He was the son of Abram Joel Powell and Anna Clarinda Ball.¹ Ward Hughes Powell married Gerda Charlotte Hasselbalch, daughter of Steen Vilhelm Hasselbalch and Emma Caroline Mark, on 7 April 1914.^3,4 Ward Hughes Powell died on 11 November 1944 at Minden, Kearney Co., NE, at age 62.²

     Effie Clarena Powell was born on 23 August 1892 at NE.^1,2 She was the daughter of Abram Joel Powell and Anna Clarinda Ball.¹ Effie Clarena Powell died on 22 December 1959 at Shelby, Polk Co., NE, at age 67.² She was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Shelby, Polk Co., NE.³

     Mary Miller was born on 27 February 1861 at IL.^1,2 She married Samuel Walton Ball, son of Hervey Ball and Sarah Ann Tucker, circa 1883.¹ Mary Miller died on 25 April 1941 at age 80.² She was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Shelby, Polk Co., NE.²

     Philip Jacob Ball was born on 25 January 1884 at NE.^1,3 He was the son of Samuel Walton Ball and Mary Miller.¹ Philip Jacob Ball married Ethel M. McGrew, daughter of Jacob Calhoun McGrew and Mary Ellen Hower, circa 1907.^3,4 Philip Jacob Ball died on 31 January 1956 at age 72.³ He was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Shelby, Polk Co., NE.³

     Mabel Clare Ball was born on 7 January 1886 at Clear Creek, Polk Co., NE.^1,2 She was the daughter of Samuel Walton Ball and Mary Miller.¹ Mabel Clare Ball married George McMeekin, son of James McMeekin and Elizabeth McWha, on 12 February 1908.³ Mabel Clare Ball died on 9 May 1930 at Polk Co., NE, at age 44.² She was buried at Graceland Cemetery, Shelby, Polk Co., NE.²
     As of 12 February 1908,her married name was McMeekin.² From an obituary in the "Shelby Sun": Mabel Clare Ball, daughter of Samuel W. and Mary Ball, was born January 7, 1886, in Clear Creek Precinct, Polk County, Nebraska. She departed this life May 9, 1930 age forty-four years, four months and two days. She was united in marriage to George McMeekin on February 12, 1908. To this union six children were born: Hazel B., Gladys L. Treadway, Willis M., Wallace W., Donna Jean and Genon Doris, who with their father will miss her loving guidance. She leaves her beloved mother, Mrs. Mary Ball and two brothers, Philip J. and Ralph V., all of Shelby, also a host of frieds to mourn her departure.
