Born in Rome on Aug. 1, 1926, she was a daughter of Melvin C. and Anastasia Smith Carpenter. She was educated in Rome and Camden schools. On Aug.21, 1948, she married Ansel E. Carrier in St. Mary's Church. Surviving besides her mother and husband are a daughter, Miss Kelley Jo Carrier, at home, a sister, Mrs. Alfred C.      Ansel Eugene Carrier was born on 28 August 1924 at Rome, Oneida Co., NY.1 He was the son of Ansel John Carrier and Grace May Anson.1 Ansel Eugene Carrier married Edith Sarah Carpenter, daughter of Melvin Cyrus Carpenter and Anastasia Smith, on 21 August 1948 at St. Mary's, Rome, Oneida Co., NY.1 Ansel Eugene Carrier died on 16 May 1995 at Rome, Oneida Co., NY, at age 70.1 He was buried at Rathbunville Cemetery, Verona Mills, Oneida Co., NY.1
     He enlisted in the Air Force in Utica on 27 Nov 1942. He served in the Asiatic Pacific as a military Policeman doing patrol work in a concentration camp. He was a motorcycle patrolman directing airplane traffic for 18 months. He received The American Service Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Bronze Star. He was born August 28, 1924 in Rome, New York, to Ansel and Grace Carrier. On August 21, 1948 he married Edith Carpenter. She died June 1, 1983. On June 22, 1984 he married Nancy Spink. He was educated in Rome schools and served in the Army during World War II. For 33 years he worked for Marcy Psychiatric Center retiring in May 1983. He was a member of the New London United Methodist Church and he was a member of Lee Center American Legion 1794 and the CSEA. He is survived by his wife, and one daughter and her fiance, Kelley Jo Carrier and Thomas W. Campbell, of Rome, one step-son and daughter-in-law,Shawn and Sarah Ebersold of Oneida, two sisters, Mrs. Isabel Linstead of Uxbridge, Mass, and Mrs. John (Esther) Waite of Altoona, Pa, and one grandson. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.1

     Ansel F. Carrier was born circa 1835 at Floyd, Oneida Co., NY.1 He was the son of Seymour J. Carrier and Emmaline Patience Fox.1 Ansel F. Carrier married Maria Tibbits, daughter of Russell Tibbits and Huldah Sizer.1 Ansel F. Carrier married Rhoda B. Segar, daughter of Julius Segar and Almira (????), on 30 May 1869 at Wabasha Co., MN.1 Ansel F. Carrier died on 17 June 1878 at Zumbro Falls, Wabashaw Co., MN.1 He was buried at Mazeppa Cemetery, Mazeppa, Wabasha Co., MN.2
     He was a Civil War Veteran. He enlisted September 1, 1864 at Marcy, NY and mustered out at Elmira, NY on 28 June 1865.1 He was a town supervisor at the time of his death, and had held the office several years; was a stanch democrat,and was the candidate of that party for the legislature in 1877. He was defeated by a very few votes, not withstanding the district is strongly Republican.1

Potter.1 Augustus Carrier married Frances Marilla Ainsworth, daughter of Willard Ainsworth and Sallie Greene, on 18 May 1838.1 Augustus Carrier died on 3 December 1903 at Washington, DC, at age 85.1,2 He was buried at Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne Co., MI.2
     He came to Cape Vincent with his parents. He subsequently removed to Detroit where he remained 25 years but returned to Cape Vincent. He was a dealer in ship timber at the latter place and in Detroit.1
