Ball and Mahala Shaw, on 6 January 1884 at Castlewood, Hamlin Co., Dakota Territory.3 Sarah Hellen Pierce married John Arthur Nyland circa 1896.4 Sarah Hellen Pierce died on 25 January 1925 at Deuel Co., SD.5
     Comment by DGB: Her marriage record lists her as Sarah Hellen Meek, but the index to the births of her children, both to Seth Ball and to John Nyland, list her as Sarah Hellen Pierce. She was listed living with Seth Ball on the 1880 census as "Sarah Meek", so I am assuming that her maiden name was "Pierce" and she had an earlier marriage to a Mr. Meek. End of comment.
