     Stephen Decatur Harrison was born circa 1816 at Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ.1 He was the son of Flavel R. Harrison and Eunice Linford.1 Stephen Decatur Harrison married Martha Rosalyn Holmes circa 1842.1 Stephen Decatur Harrison died on 10 May 1881.1 He was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Newark, Essex Co., NJ.1
     Stephen and Sarah probably lived with their grandfather Moses Harrison after their father Flavel died. The 1830 census reports a male and female of consistent ages living with Moses in Bloomfield.1 He and his family were original members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in October 1860 at Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ.1 He served as the last mayor of Bergen and oversaw its merging with Jersey City between 1868 and 1869.1
