Ball, son of Orange Ball and Rebecca Beebe, on 19 August 1848 at Ashtabula Co., OH.1 Nancy Harriett Dodge died on 4 March 1910 at Cheboygan, Cheboygan Co., MI, at age 82.1 She was buried at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mullet, Cheboygan Co., MI.2
     As of 19 August 1848,her married name was Ball.1 From an obituary in the "Cheboygan News": On Friday March 4, Mrs. Nancy H. Ball, one of Cheboygan's most respected ladies, passed away at her home on Mackinaw Street after a long illness. Mrs. Ball was one of the pioneers of Cheboygan county. Her maiden name was Dodge and she was born in Massachusetts July 27, 1824. When about twelve years of age she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anson Dodge, to Ohio and in that state on August 19, 1849, she was married to Nelson H. Ball. The following year she moved to Cheboygan arriving here about April 25, 1850. In February 1852 she moved to the east side of Mullet Lake to what is known as the Ball farm. She was the mother of three sons, Nelson Jr., Quintus, and Charles and one daughter, Adora, the only one to survive her is her son Quintus C. with whom she resided and who was able to care for his mother in her last days. The funeral took place Monday from the home. Rev Pearson of the Baptist church officiating. The interment was at Maple Grove Cemetery at Mullet.2

     Mary A. Dodge was born in May 1854 at Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH.2,3 She was the daughter of James Dodge and Hester Guthrie.3 Mary A. Dodge married Nelson Horatio Ball, son of Nelson H. Ball and Nancy Harriett Dodge, on 8 January 1877 at Cheboygan Co., MI.1 Mary A. Dodge died on 23 December 1920 at Conneaut, Ashtabula Co., OH, at age 66.3
     As of 8 January 1877,her married name was Ball.1 From an obituary in the "Cheboygan Democrat": Mrs Nelson H. Ball died at her home at Conneaut, Ohio on Dec. 23rd after a considerable illness, dating back principally from a stroke of paralysis that attacked her four years ago. From that time to date she had suffered four strokes, every one of which left her in a weaker condition and made it positive to her family that the end might come at any moment. The funeral was held in Conneaut and interment made there, although the remains of Mr Ball who died at his Aloha home about 21 years ago were laid at rest in the Aloha cemetery. Mrs. Ball was born at Conneaut 67 years ago and taught school for awhile at the Mullet Lake school. She was united in marriage to Mr. Ball 43 years ago last January by Judge Maulbey, Justices of the Peace being more plentiful in this country those days than preachers. To Mr. and Mrs. Ball all two children survive, namely Mrs Nellie Scott of Aloha and Norman H. Ball of Conneaut. Mrs. Ball moved back to the Ohio city eighteen years ago.3

     Quintius Curtious Ball was born on 2 May 1852 at Inverness, Cheboygan Co., MI.1 He was the son of Nelson H. Ball and Nancy Harriett Dodge.2 Quintius Curtious Ball married Eliza Ellen Davenport on 18 April 1876 at Cheboygan Co., MI.2 Quintius Curtious Ball married Sarah Ellis on 21 April 1910.1 Quintius Curtious Ball died on 22 December 1927 at Traverse City, Grand Traverse Co., MI, at age 75.3
     From an obituary in the "Observer": Quint C. Ball's funeral was held at the chapel at the Pine Hill cemetery on Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock, Rev. Perham conducting the service and music was furnished by Miss Effie Chapman and Gladys McLaughlin. Mr. Ball died a the Traverse City hospital on Sunday morning at seven o'clock and the remains arrived here on Monday. Mr. Ball had been a life time resident of this community being born on what has been known as the Ball farm near the Mullet Lake station. Ball is survived by his widow, who is ill and was unable to attend the funeral of her husband. Mr. Ball has been in failing health for a long while and a short while ago was taken to the hospital for treatment, but he did not improve there and passed away as above stated. Mr. Ball is one of the pioneers of the county and had been identified with many things in which he had gained a considerable acquaintance all over the County and throughout the city.3
