     They resided in Northborough about two miles southerly from his father's homestead, where he operated a grist mill. His home is still standing (1932), located on Crawford Street near Church Street on the bank of a small pond made by damming a branch of the Assabet River, which operated his grist mill.¹

     Densmore Ball was born on 21 December 1809 at Boylston, Worcester Co., MA.¹ He was the son of Elijah Ball and Anna Moore.² Densmore Ball married Elmina S. Shepard, daughter of Seth Shepard and Lydia (????), on 29 November 1832 at Mansfield, Bristol Co., MA.³ Densmore Ball and Elmina S. Shepard posted marriage intentions on 28 November 1832 at Boylston, Worcester Co., MA; "Almina."⁴ Densmore Ball died on 29 March 1871 at Boylston, Worcester Co., MA, at age 61.⁵ He was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston Center, Worcester Co., MA.⁶
     He occupied the old homestead of his father, to which he added a two and one-half storey portion to the original one and one-half storey ell. He followed in the footsteps of his father by farming the land and by burning charcoal.² "Dinsmore" on the record of son George's second marriage.⁷
