     Tradition says that Alvin's grandfather Maj. Lebbeus Ball was wounded and captured by the British in 1775. He was placed in charge of two Indians and started for the British lines. He was rescued by one of his soldiers by the name of Munn.1

     Leora Alice Ball was born on 26 May 1876 at Pompey, Onondaga Co., NY.1 She was the daughter of Frederick Alvin Munn Ball and Alice Rose Taylor.1 Leora Alice Ball married Archibald MacFarlane on 18 September 1900.1 Leora Alice Ball died on 19 July 1971 at Whitefield, Coos Co., NH, at age 95; while on vacation.1 She was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY.1
