     Gladys Florence Post was born on 20 June 1896 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI.¹ She was the daughter of William Joel Post and Effie Mae Curtis.¹ Gladys Florence Post married Howard Francis Quick, son of Almon Scott Quick and Minnie Belle Jennings, on 4 July 1915 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI.¹ Gladys Florence Post died on 28 June 1964 at Lansing, Ingham Co., MI, at age 68.¹

     Almon Scott Quick was born on 11 April 1869 at PA; (near Scranton, PA.)¹ He was the son of John Francis Quick and Mariah Lake.¹ Almon Scott Quick married Minnie Belle Jennings, daughter of Martin D. Jennings and Ruth Maria Donelson, on 11 January 1892 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI.¹ Almon Scott Quick died on 12 April 1935 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI, at age 66.¹ He was buried at Avondale Cemetery, Flint, Genesee Co., MI.¹

     Minnie Belle Jennings was born on 19 January 1871 at Gaines, Genesee Co., MI; (or 29 Jan 1871.)¹ She was the daughter of Martin D. Jennings and Ruth Maria Donelson.¹ Minnie Belle Jennings married Almon Scott Quick, son of John Francis Quick and Mariah Lake, on 11 January 1892 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI.¹ Minnie Belle Jennings died on 16 August 1915 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI, at age 44.¹ She was buried on 23 August 1915 at Genesee Co., MI.¹
     As of 11 January 1892,her married name was Quick.

     John Francis Quick was born circa 1814 at PA.¹ He married Anna Maria Sibley, daughter of Henry Sibley.¹ John Francis Quick married Mariah Lake between 1850 and 1855 at PA.¹ John Francis Quick died after March 1889 at MI.¹

Jennings died on 20 April 1924 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI, at age 87; on Easter Day.¹

     Ruth Maria Donelson was born on 18 June 1843 at MI.¹ She was the daughter of Horace Loren Donelson and Rachel Cole.¹ Ruth Maria Donelson married Martin D. Jennings, son of Isaac Jennings and Mary (????), on 22 June 1861 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI.¹ Ruth Maria Donelson died on 3 June 1904 at Gaines, Genesee Co., MI, at age 60.¹
     As of 22 June 1861,her married name was Jennings.

     Horace Loren Donelson was born on 30 March 1816 at Colrain, Franklin Co., MA.¹ He was the son of Ira Donelson and Mary Shattuck.¹ Horace Loren Donelson married Rachel Cole, daughter of John Cole and Elizabeth Skinner, in 1838 at MI.¹ Horace Loren Donelson married Mary L. Y. (????) on 21 October 1884.¹ Horace Loren Donelson died on 28 May 1895 at Flint, Genesee Co., MI, at age 79.¹ He was buried circa June 1895 at Evergreen Cemetery, Whigville, Grand Blanc, Genesee Co., MI.¹

     Rachel Cole was born on 30 December 1817 at NY.¹ She was the daughter of John Cole and Elizabeth Skinner.¹ Rachel Cole married Horace Loren Donelson, son of Ira Donelson and Mary Shattuck, in 1838 at MI.¹ Rachel Cole died on 3 April 1885 at Genesee Co., MI, at age 67; "Donalson."¹ She was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Whigville, Grand Blanc, Genesee Co., MI.¹
     Rachel Cole, daughter of John and Elizabeth Cole 'of Atherton Township' (according to handwritten history of the Donelson family), born in New York in December of 1817, is ALMOST CERTAINLY the youngest daughter of John Cole and Elizabeth Skinner, of Readington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, who migrated through New York state (their youngest son James Madison Cole is stated by some to have been born there in 1814) to Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan, where they died. John and Elizabeth's older son Tunis Cole is found living in very close proximity to Horace and Rachel Donelson in the 1840, 1850, and 1860 Genesee County, Michigan censuses. Although the 1880 U.S. Census of Genesee Co., MI claims that Rachel's parents were both born in New York, this is probably in error.¹ As of 1838,her married name was Donelson.      Photo courtesy of Linda Belote.²

     John Cole was born on 28 June 1776 at Readington, Hunterdon Co., NJ.¹ He married Elizabeth Skinner on 20 February 1797.¹ John Cole died at Oakland Co., MI.¹ He was buried at Drayton Plains Cemetery, Waterford, Oakland Co., MI.¹

     Elizabeth Skinner was born circa 1779 at Roxbury, Morris Co., NJ.¹ She married John Cole on 20 February 1797.¹ Elizabeth Skinner died on 21 April 1849 at Oakland Co., MI.¹
     As of 20 February 1797,her married name was Cole.

     Ira Donelson was born on 5 August 1790 at Colrain, Franklin Co., MA.² He was the son of Matthew Donelson and Sarah Patterson.¹ Ira Donelson married Mary Shattuck, daughter of Abel Shattuck and Lydia Oak, in 1815.¹ Ira Donelson died on 10 August 1872 at Pontiac, Oakland Co., MI, at age 82.²
     In 1827 Ira Donelson made his way overland from Massachusetts to Buffalo, New York, there took a schooner on Lake Erie and nine days later arrived in Detroit. He took an ox team at the last named place and following the Indian trail made his way to Waterford township, Oakland County, where he lived the rest of his life. He bought a tract of 160 acres of land, 10 acres of which were partially cleared, and there built a small log cabin in which he lived with his family for 10 years. It was in this house that the first Methodist church of Oakland County was organized by a party of 12 people who met there for that purpose. The cabin was thereafter known as the "Methodist Tavern" until a church was built. Ira Donelson cleared about 80 acres of his farm and built a large barn, 32 by 50 feet in dimensions. He later purchased 120 acres of the government, which with that acquired from other sources made him owner of about 400 acres in the county. He began with little or no means and this accumulation was the result of untiring industry. He was a very good scholar, took an interest in public affairs and was a supporter of the Whig party until the organization of the Republican party when he became affiliated with the latter. He was also teacher in the first school District No. 1, of Waterford township.³

     Mary Shattuck was born on 18 April 1794 at Colrain, Franklin Co., MA; (or 10 Aug 1794.)¹ She was the daughter of Abel Shattuck and Lydia Oak.¹ Mary Shattuck married Ira Donelson, son of Matthew Donelson and Sarah Patterson, in 1815.¹ Mary Shattuck died on 28 January 1865 at Pontiac, Oakland Co., MI, at age 70.¹
     Mary Shattuck was also known as Polly.¹ As of 1815,her married name was Donelson.

     William Joel Post was born on 12 October 1856 at Saratoga Co., NY.¹ He married Effie Mae Curtis, daughter of Lyman Thompson Curtis and Florence Bigelow, on 23 August 1892 at Genesee Co., MI.¹ William Joel Post died on 29 October 1927 at Lansing, Ingham Co., MI, at age 71.¹

     Effie Mae Curtis was born on 8 December 1865 at MI.¹ She was the daughter of Lyman Thompson Curtis and Florence Bigelow.^1,2 Effie Mae Curtis married Frederick Wilson on 25 March 1885 at Genesee Co., MI.¹ Effie Mae Curtis married William Joel Post on 23 August 1892 at Genesee Co., MI.¹ Effie Mae Curtis died on 3 February 1938 at Lansing, Ingham Co., MI, at age 72.¹
     As of 25 March 1885,her married name was Wilson.¹ As of 23 August 1892,her married name was Post.
