     He was a letter carrier during the Revolutionary War between Canada and Brattleboro, bearing letters for William Smith of N.Y., formerly Chief Justice of the Province of Vermont.³ Comment by DGB: Since it was Shadrack's younger brother that petitioned for his deceased father's bounty land in July 1790, it is possible that Shadrack had already died by then. End of comment. Shadrack is listed in William Reid's book 'Loyalists of Ontario'. The book lists persons who received, or were to receive, land by Order of Council for services rendered or losses sustained as UEL members. Shadrack is listed as "of Ernestown" with 5 sons: Timothy T of Loughborough, Angel of Pittsburg, Cyrenus of Loughborough, Sanford of Pittsburg, and Belknap of Pittsburg. The land grant approval was dated Sept 29. 1834.¹
