Mary Cummings1

F, #4501, b. circa 22 July 1827, d. 3 November 1905
Mary Cummings was born circa 22 July 1827 at Auburn, Worcester Co., MA; (age at death 88y 3m 12d would suggest a birth date of 22 Jul 1817 that does not match the recorded birth date in the Auburn records of 6 May 1829 or her age on census records. However, since the census records consistenly show her born circa 1827 and the 1900 census shows July 1827 (erroneously corrected to 1826), it is more likely that her birth was 22 July 1827 and that her age at death was off by 10 years. Her gravestone shows a birth date of 22 Jul 1827.)2,3,4 She was the daughter of John Cummings and Catharine Holman.2 Mary Cummings married Edwin Smith Ball, son of Perley Ball and Phebe Smith, on 1 January 1845 at Southbridge, Worcester Co., MA.1 Mary Cummings and Edwin Smith Ball posted marriage intentions on 7 December 1844 at Dudley, Worcester Co., MA.5 Mary Cummings died on 3 November 1905 at Oxford, Worcester Co., MA.3 She was buried at North Cemetery, Oxford, Worcester Co., MA.4
As of 1 January 1845,her married name was Ball.
